Kindergarten Leaders

Mrs. Galati's students listen intently as visiting members of the Beach Street Leadership Club read to them. Leaders brought their favorite children's book to read to their captive audience. Some members even dressed as their favorite character as they read aloud. Thanks for the visit, Leadership Club!

Float Your Boat

As part of our Water Study and Does it Sink or Float?, the PM Kindergarten class had the opportunity to spend some time in the MST Lab attempting to "Float Their Boats". Each child was given a clay ball and challenged to design a boat that would float! This activity gave the students a hands-on opportunity to recognize that the shape and distribution of weight helps determine whether an object will sink or float. Following the activity, we returned to our classroom to build a "human boat" and sing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" will Mrs. Galati at the piano! (By the way, we LOVE having our classroom piano!) Successful boat floaters for the day were Joey G. and Lauren P. Everyone was encouraged to try again at home and bring in any boats that float! Check out the pictures to see the fun that we had……..

Mrs. Galati’s Kindergarten Procedures

Milk/Juice Break: Each day we will have a milk/juice break. We do not have a snack to eat unless we are celebrating someone’s birthday. A carton of milk can be purchased at school for .20. You may send in milk money for the week or on a daily basis. I only ask that you PLEASE send in the correct amount. Juice boxes will have to be provided from home.

Weekly Highlights: At the beginning of each week, I will send home a letter to give you a general idea of what will be going on in our classroom that week. It will also highlight any extra supplies that may be needed.

Invitations: It is the school’s policy that any invitations sent home through school (for parties) MUST include ALL children in the class. If everyone is not to be included, please mail the invitations home so that we can avoid tears in the classroom.

Room Parents: Room mothers, or room parents as I prefer to call them, are chosen through the PTA. More information will be sent home at a later date regarding the PTA meeting.

Homework: I will send home worksheets 2 or 3 times a week to reinforce what we are doing in class. These will not be long or take a lot of time to complete.

Gym: Students will need to wear appropriate clothing for gym – to include sneakers. The AM Class will attend gym on Monday and the PM Class on Friday.

Show and Tell: This will happen each Friday. Your child may bring in one item of their choice to share with the class. One of the objectives of this activity is to help the children express themselves in complete sentences. You may wish to practice beforehand ("This is my…….")

Absent Notes: Please write a short note stating the reason for your child’s absence. Without a note, it will be marked as an illegal absence. Family vacations taken when school is in session are also marked as an illegal absence.

By working together, we can ensure a wonderful and successful school experience for your child. Don’t hesitate to call or send a note regarding any concerns.
