A Letter to the Queen
By Marc
I am a 45-cent overseas postage stamp. I am sitting in a drawer in the West Islip Post Office. I am regular shaped. My border is blue and I have a red, yellow, and green flower on me. I am waiting for someone to buy me and send me somewhere far away.
One day a big man with snow-white hair came in the post office to by me. His name was James Appleseed. He took me home to his house and started writing a letter. Then when he finished he put the letter in an envelope. After that, he addressed the envelope. James picked me up and pasted me on the letter.
James put me in the mailbox and the mailman took me to the post office. Then the post office sent me on an airplane. Once I arrived at my destination, I realized that I was in England. The mailman in England took me to a big palace called Buckingham Palace. I was on a letter for Queen Elizabeth!
In the afternoon the Queen sat down at her desk to read her mail. She came to the letter that I was on and opened it. The Queen read the letter. James told the Queen that he would be visiting England with his wife. James wanted to know if he and his wife could meet the Queen. The Queen is a very busy lady but she decided that she would meet James and his wife. So she wrote them back. She put me in a very special gold box with her other important letters.
A month later the Appleseeds came to see the Queen. When they had tea, the Queen took out the letter and showed them that she was keeping their letter in a very special place. And there I stayed.
Super Bowl XXXV
By Eddie
I am a colorful red and blue stamp sitting in a drawer at the post office. I am with similar stamps. We are all worth the same and do the same things. We are all waiting for someone to buy us and go on our way on a journey.
One day, a man who was tall and slender with sandy colored hair bought me. His name was Paul Tagleabaue and he is the Commissioner of the National Football League (NFL). He had a really important letter to Coach Fassels of the New York Giants Football Team.
In the letter, it tells his team they must travel to Florida to play in Super Bowl XXXV. The game is to be played on January 28, 2001 against the Baltimore Ravens.
When I arrived at Coach Fassels home he placed me on his desk and read the important letter. He can now tell the team where to go. They are all very excited. Coach Fassels kept the important letter and the envelope as a souvenir for making it all the way to the Super Bowl.
So now I am important too, hanging on the wall in a glass picture frame in the office of the New York Giants!

Haiku Poems
By Jennifer
In Miss Kleins 5th grade class, we created our own original Haiku Poems. We had to make two poems for each season. On the first day we were taught the lesson. Then we wrote our masterpieces. Next we went to the computer lab, to type them and insert pictures that go with the poems. After the typed copy, we soon will be writing a scroll. The scroll will go home to our mothers for Mothers Day, but before that they will be on the backboard. The typed copy will go home with us.
To decorate the room for the occasion, Miss Klein made the front table full of all items from different seasons. Some items for spring are butterflies, an Easter Egg tree, and an Easter trimming around the table. For summer there are sand castles and fish etc. For winter there is a snowman and a snow woman. Finally for autumn there are leaves and animals that are popular in autumn. With all the different seasons put together on the table it looks really nice.
In the back of the room the backboard is decorated with spring flowers. Soon on the metallic gold and silver paper, our original Haiku Poems on the scroll will be on it. With all the copies of the poems it will look great.

It was a cold winter evening, and my family and I drove to my Godfathers little shop titled "Boxes, Boxes, and More Boxes!" I had never met my Godfather before. (Actually, we were introduced when I was one month old, but I dont think that counts.) My father told me how great the shop was yet, I questioned him, "What could be so great about a store full of nothing but boxes?"
When we arrived at the shop, my Godfather ran out to greet us with a huge smile on his puffy pale face.
"Well come in. Come in. And this must be Kathryn! She has sure gotten tall and beautiful ever since I saw her last!"
The shop was rather ordinary like other shops on the outside. There was bright red brick and a large blue neon sign with the shops name on it.
Once we entered, my eyes bulged, and my jaw dropped wide open! There were boxes, upon boxes, upon boxes! There were round ones, square, triangle, and other extraordinary shaped boxes. The boxes were of all colors, sizes, and designs. There were stripes, stars, plain blank colors, polka dotted, some with presents, and much more! It was amazing!
Later, all of my cousins joined us and my Godfather made an announcement while he was pointing to a corner full of wrapped boxes with bright color paper.
"To serve as a holiday gift, you will each be given a special present over there with your name on it."
All the children ran over to find their presents. Then I found mine. It was much smaller than the rest, but I figured it must have been something special! It had blue and shiny silver stripes going across it with a blue ribbon around it as well. Written on the tag was, "To Kathryn, Love, your Godfather." When I opened the box there was a royal blue sack and when I opened that all I saw was dirt, just dirt with little while specks in it. All the other kids received toys, and games but I had nothing but dirt! I was really disappointed. My eyes were filled with tears. When we were ready to go home, my Godfather talked with me privately.
"Kathryn, I know that you think that the dirt I gave you is nothing special, but it is! You know how to use it," he said.
And with that we left.
After the next week I had given up all hope of finding out how to use the dirt. So later that day, I dumped part of it into the snow along the fence. But, the most strange and bizarre thing happened! The next morning I awoke to having the most beautiful flowers along the fence where I scattered the dirt! The flowers were bright crimsons, violets, magentas, and lavenders all with golden yellow centers. They all had thick green stems and large soft fluffy leaves. It was an amazing site, full of eye-catching color. The flowers were more than three feet tall! No one suspected flowers during the winter, so the color stood out proudly in the white soft snow. All the neighbors and relatives came to see them! It was great! Every winter now, these flowers blossom beautifully!
The rest of the magic dirt I keep on a shelf in my room where everyone can see it. When I grow older and have a place of my own, I will scatter it throughout my backyard too, and never forget my Godfather or his wonderful box!

It all started when my family and I went to Hawaii for a few days. On the last day we were walking until we saw a small yellow store with a slanted roof. It was called "A Box in A Box."
Inside the store boys and girls were buying fancy boxes and when they opened them they took out a toy or some candy. The boxes were cheap so I was allowed to buy one.
When I went inside there was every kind of box imaginable. They were in every size, every color, and every shape. I saw one that was big, bright and colorful. Right when I took it something caught my eye
it was a small brown box with strange designs on it. It didnt look like anyone wanted it so I decided to buy it. When I went to the counter, the man behind it said, "$3.95 please."
So I paid for the box and we left. Then my family got packed because it was time to go. When I was in the airplane I wanted to open the box but I put it in the wrong bag and had to wait until we got home.
At my house I unpacked until I found the box. I opened it and inside there was
nothing except a little paper package stuck to the box. So I opened the package and I was surprised to see that there was everything I could think of in that box. There were cell phones, D.V.D players, games and so much more! I didnt know how everything fit in there because it barely fit in my room.
When my parents saw my room like that, they took the box away even though they were rather pleased with the new car in the garage.
Im not sure where the box is today. I think my parents are saving it for a special occasion.
